During our Character and Setting focus weeks the children in key stage 2 have been reading books to their buddies in key stage 1 and Early Years. Our theme this year is Myths and Legends as well as Fairy Stores and Traditional Tales.

On Friday 20th January children from St Joachim’s and St Helen’s met to explore in the “Science Dome”. The children viewed the planets in a “3D film”. This helped them all to learn facts such as the plants’ temperatures and distances from the sun, linking to their science work in school.
On 7th November 2016 the head boys and girls from St Joachim’s and St Helen’s joined other schools from the Diocese to celebrate the end of the year of mercy. They had a chance to walk through the Holy Door and meet Bishop Alan.
Academy Mass On the 4th September the staff, governors and directors of St Joachim’s and St Helen’s came to together to celebrate mass for the beginning of the new school year. Our Parish Priests, Fr James Mackay and Fr Dan Mason blessed the statues of Our Lady of Grace which now are in each school.
