The Year 4’s from both St Helen’s and St Joachim’s came together to take part in the Moral Maze. Children are posed a variety of questions which develop their thinking about everyday issues. Children then decide on what they would do in those situations.
All Newham deanery primary schools joined together on the 17th of January for this years Mini Vinnies Festival. The children from each school were able to present on what being a Mini Vinnie means to them as well as sharing with each other the activities that they have completed over the last year.
On Friday 2nd November Mini Vinnie children from St Joachim’s and St Helen’s slept over at St Helen’s school with staff to raise awareness for World Homeless Awareness Day.
Year 5 had the opportunity to go on a pilgrimage to Walsingham along with pupils from St. Joachim’s. Although it was a long day; the children had a fun time learning about history of Walsingham, having a beautiful mass and ending the day with a walk down Pilgrim’s way.
On Tuesday 11th September, year 6 pupils went on a four day camping trip at the St John Bosco Camp in Essex. During our Character and Setting focus weeks the children in key stage 2 have been reading books to their buddies in key stage 1 and Early Years. Our theme this year is Myths and Legends as well as Fairy Stores and Traditional Tales.
